- The entire episode is a spoof of the series 24, including Cartman's torture of Bahir's parents and the repeated use of the 24 clock. Other similarities include:
- The similarity of the head of the CIA to Bill Buchanan
- The telephone ringtones throughout the show, landline or cellular, are identical to those of the CTU office phones.
- The shaky, fast-paced camerawork and split-screen effects used throughout.
- Cartman's voice during the episode, which has a tough, gravelly tone similar to that of Jack Bauer.
- Kyle's cross-referencing of details and leads using his home computer whilst in constant mobile phone contact with Cartman - this is similar to Chloe O'Brian's role in 24.
- The Russian mercenary's lament about dying before he gets paid is reference to the numerous instances in 24 (and other shows) where people who have helped the terrorists for financial gain are almost always killed by the terrorists upon completing their task.
- When the Russian mercenary is first seen, the music that plays is from the series of video games Darkstalkers - in particular Vampire Savior where the music is the theme of the final boss Jedah.
- In an episode of Da Ali G Show, Ali G tries to pitch a book idea with a similar plot, whereby a nuclear weapon is placed in the Queen's vagina.
- Hillary Clinton speaking in a southern US accent is a spoof of the speech she gave in Selma, Alabama shortly before this episode's original airing.
- Various websites are referenced throughout the episode, including MySpace, Google, YouTube, Ask Jeeves, MapQuest, Drudge Report, Paypal, eHarmony, Craig's List, Google Maps, eBay, WebCrawler, and JDate among others.
- Bahir's last name is initially stated to be "Hakeem", but when Kyle looks at Bahir's Myspace profile, it shows his last name as "Habeem".
- Hillary Clinton appears with the same large buttocks as in the Season 6 episode Simpsons Already Did It.
- When Cartman talks to Barbrady he says that events took place between Recess and Geography but when it goes back into his class Mrs. Garrison is preparing to teach History.
- Bahir's Myspace page lists him as 8 years old, despite Myspace prohibiting account registrations for under-14s.
