- This is the first episode to air on Halloween: However, in spite of South Park having aired Halloween specials in the past, this isn't such an episode.
- When the title "Episode III" slowly appears on screen, it uses the same font and background sound effect as the show Lost.
- Santa takes the golden axe with him into battle, but when Butters imagines his next character, the axe is back where it was before Santa took it.
- The scene in which Kyle is sitting in front of the Lincoln memorial questioning his ability to stop the military from nuking Imaginationland is an allusion to a similar scene from Mr. Smith Goes to Washington.
- When Kyle is trying to convince the military not to nuke Imaginationland, he says imaginary characters are real because they have an influence on people's lives. This is also what the pragmatic theory of truth theory states.
- When the Supreme Court of the United States overturns the Cartman v. Broflovski decision, the current Chief Justice of the United States John Roberts can be seen reading the decision, with Associate Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito alongside.
