- Towards the end of the episode, The Lottery, Shirley Jackson's short story from 1948, is consistently referenced. In The Lottery a town specially selects a victim to be sacrificed in the name of a good harvest.
- The episode alludes to the 1969 animated television special Frosty the Snowman when Kyle and Stan buy train tickets to the North Pole in an effort to save Britney Spears. This includes a bit of Jimmy Durante-esque narration.
- You can see a visitor's silhouette dancing on the Video wall during Britney's VMA performance.
- The maintenance closet that Stan, Kyle and Britney hide in while at the train station is the same closet that's used in Cartoon Wars, Part II on the Fox studio lot.
- The haunting melodic chant sung by the Britney stalkers is similar to Ave Satani from Jerry Goldsmith's Oscar-winning score to the 1976 film The Omen.
- The TransTrak train company and its logo are similar to that of Amtrak.
- The photogragher who points and screeches at Britney Spears is an allusion to Donald Sutherland's character in the 1978 film, Invasion of the Body Snachters, where the eponymous body snatchers react in this way when they identify a human who is not part of their collective.
