A class field trip to the living museum takes a deadly turn. Mr. Garrison takes the fourth grade class on an educational field trip to a Pioneer Village where dedicated workers remain in character as their counterparts from the 1800's. Cartman forces Butters to ditch the fanatical townsfolk to go to the amusement center located next door. While the rest of the kids are reluctantly learning about the good old days in Colorado, a group of trigger-happy thieves break into the museum and take everyone hostage. |

- The original title of this episode was "The Living Museum".
- When Kyle points out the blacksmith is wearing a digital watch, Pioneer Paul says "Dammit Chad", but later while being tortured it is stated that the blacksmith's name is David Palmer.
- David Palmer was a character in 24 who was President of the United States and who was later assassinated in Season 5 of that show.
- In the initial airing of this episode, the employee who was about to divulge the door code said that it started with a "5-2-" before he was shot by Pioneer Paul. In subsequent airings it has been re-dubbed and corrected to "1-" before he is shot to match the actual door code of 1864.
- A sign on the ticket counter at Super Phun Thyme says 2 KIDS FOR 12 DOLLARS SPECIAL. However, the standard the children's rate is stated as $6 - some deal!
- When the park intercom system comes on with an announcement, the opening jingle is the popular 3 toned jingle from NBC.
- The 911 operator that Stan calls is the same woman, along with the same setting, that works at the Blizzard hotline in Make Love, Not Warcraft. Moreover, one of the Blizzard executives from that episode is also seen on the bumper cars at Super Phun Thyme.
- When Cartman tells Butters he has to chill, he is referring to one of the most popular quotations from the 1986 movie Ferris Bueller's Day Off.
- In addition, the "Super Phun Thyme" theme Cartman sings during the montage uses the tune Love Missile F1-11 by new wave band Sigue Sigue Sputnik. This song also features prominently in Ferris Bueller's Day Off.
- Butters' final line to Mr. Garrison mimics Stan's line in Follow that Egg! when presenting his egg to Mrs. Garrison.
- When Cartman and Butters are riding the motorcycle ride in the Super Phun Thyme it mimics the way Pierce Brosnan and Michelle Yeoh ride a motorcycle whilst handcuffed in Tomorrow Never Dies.
- The terrorist leader Franz somewhat resembles Hans Gruber, played by Alan Rickman in the movie Die Hard.
