Episode 401 - Cartman's Silly Hate Crime 2000
After hucking a rock at "Token" - South Park's only minority student - Cartman is pursued by the FBI for committing a hate crime and lands in juvenile detention hall. As Cartman adjusts to life on the inside, he gradually befriends his cellmate, "Romper Stomper," who, although rough and tough on the outside, also misses his mommy. Meanwhile, the boys help their convicted friend smuggle cigarettes so he can break free and join his friends in the third annual "Gauntlet Sledding Race."

Trivia

  • The tattoo of a tear on Romper Stomper's face is from the 1990 film "Cry-Baby," starring Johnny Depp, where the main character can only cry out of one eye. In the movie he goes to jail and gets a "lonely tear" tattooed to his face.
  • When Cartman tries to escape with his cellmate, this is a parody of the 1983 film "Bad Boys".
  • Cartman runs from the police because he is in danger of going to Juvenile Hall. Kenny and and Cartman attempt to outrun the cops in Kenny's Go Go Action Bronco; a spoof of the televised chase of the white Bronco that carried O.J. Simpson.
  • Kyle and Stan speak Pig Latin when they try to give Cartman the cake with the nail file in it. Pig Latin words are formed by saying the last syllable a word first, followed by the first part of the word with "ay" added to the end. So "break" becomes "eak-bray" and prison becomes "ison-pray."
  • When Cartman enters the prison, the theme for the HBO television series Oz is playing.
  • Cartman is announced as Prisoner 24601. This is the same number given to the hero, Jean Valjean of Victor Hugo's "les Miserables."
