Episode 802 - AWESOM-O
Cartman hatches his next genius plan for picking on Butters when he becomes "AWESOM-O." Cartman dresses up like a robot, calls himself "AWESOM-O," and moves in with Butters. His plan is to learn all of Butter's innermost secrets and then use them against him. While Butters is thrilled to have found a new best friend, the Army believes "AWESOM-O" is some new secret weapon, and Hollywood is after the phony robot to develop their next big blockbuster.

Trivia

  • Catamount Pictures is a parody of Paramount Pictures.
  • Scientist: "What the hell? It... powered itself back on" - This line, and the scene in general, is a reference to the scene in the 1995 anime film "Ghost in the Shell" in which the puppet master is restrained in almost the same pose as Cartman is. The puppet master begins speaking while running on its own power supply.
  • Butters: "My birthday isn't untill September 11th!" - Butter's birthday is on the same day when the devastating terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon occurred.
  • The "Let Me Tell You About My Robot Friend" song, sung by Butters, is a parody of the theme to the television series "The Courtship of Eddie's Father".
  • AWESOME-O is a reference to the Honda robot Asimo.
  • Butters: "If you leave me now, you'll take away the biggest part of me...ooohooh!!" - This is the second time that Butters has sang the song "If You Leave Me Now" by Chicago. He also sings it in Episode 711 - "Casa Bonita".
  • Ms. Cartman: "Eric is still supposed to be grounded for trying to exterminate the Jews two weeks ago." - This is a reference to Episode 804, "The Passion of the Jew", which originally aired two weeks prior to this (delayed) Episode 802.
  • "Sure, why not? Program the memories of some eight-year-old boy who doesn't exist, and make the robot think he's real!" - refers to Blade Runner, in which Harrison Ford hunts androids, one of which was implanted with the (false) memories of an 8 year old girl.
