Trivia

  • Mel Gibson: "Qapla!" - "Qapla!" loosely translates into "Success!" in Klingon.
  • The tanker truck that Mel Gibson drives when chasing the bus is similar to the tanker he drives in the 1981 film "Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior."
  • Mel Gibson: "Freedom!" - When Mel Gibson yells this, it is a reference to his 1995 film "Braveheart."
  • Mel Gibson: "You can torture me all you want, I still won't tell you!" - Mel Gibson repeatedly suggests that he be tortured, a reference to his penchant for torture scenes in his movies. Examples include "Lethal Weapon", "Braveheart", "Conspiracy Theory", "Payback", and of course, "The Passion...".
  • Mel Gibson: "Give me back my money" - Reference to the famous line from the Mel Gibson character in the 1996 film "Ransom".
  • One of the Jews seen crucifying Jesus in Kyle's dream is M*A*S*H* star Alan Alda.
  • Cartman's German chant translates to "It is time for revenge! We must exterminate the Jews!"
  • This episode was released on August 31st, 2004 on a DVD including the episodes "Christian Rock Hard" and "Red Hot Catholic Love". This was to coincide with the release of "The Passion" on DVD.
  • Mel Gibson's appearing in doorways first in drag with a Carmen Miranda fruit hat and then as a clown, the banjo thing, and his jumping around shouting "woo-hoo", all were taken directly from the 1943 Daffy Duck cartoon "Yankee Doodle Daffy", directed by Friz Freleng. Hence Stan's use of the word "daffy" to describe him. This was all a take on Mel's antics in Lethal Weapon, in which he's watching Looney Toons in his underwear and has a gun in his hand.
