Humans from the year 4035 are arriving in droves. South Park gets a little too crowded when people from the future arrive through a recently discovered time portal. When the boys try to earn some extra money, the time immigrants, who are willing to do the same work for next to nothing, take their jobs. |

- Wetbacks: The name of the future people, Goobacks, is a reference to "wetbacks", which is slang for illegal Mexican immigrant.
- The yellow sign with the man and woman running with a child in the air are the actual signs used across southern California's highways to warn of illegal aliens in the road.
- The reporter, when talking about various time-traveling rules references Timerider rules.
This is a reference to "Timerider: The Adventure of Lylle Swan", a movie made in 1982 in which a young man riding on a motorbike through Mexico gets transported back in time to 1877.
- This episode was originally listed on southparkstudios.com as "Wetbacks from the Future." It was then changed to "Goobacks from the Future." Finally, the day of the premiere, the episode was changed yet again to "Goobacks."
- The "Work for a Better Future" montage at the end features many cameos of South Park characters, some of which are rarely seen anymore. Some of the characters include: Officer Barbrady, Principal Victoria, the Mayor, the McCormick family, Ike, Chef, Butters, Mr. Garrison, Mr. Slave, the Raisins girls, and the goth kids. Also, the bum from "Bigger, Longer, and Uncut" makes his first appearance since the movie.
