Episode 813 - Cartman's Incredible Gift
Cartman suffers a severe blow to the head after a nearly fatal fall in "Cartman's Incredible Gift." After sustaining a severe head injury, Cartman appears to have the power to see into the future. South Park detectives are quick to enlist his help in cracking unsolved murder cases and Cartman is more than willing to help, for a price. In the meantime, a group of "licensed" psychics cry foul when Cartman refuses to join their ranks.

Trivia

  • The bald, bearded 'licensed' Psychic Detective looks very much like James Randi, a very respected magician who debunks mystics, psychics and pseudoscience.
  • The killer is a mix of many different killers from classic movies: When he holds the corpse that was once his mother, this is an obvious reference to the movie Psycho, where Norman Bates keeps his mother's corpse. There are also similarities to Buffalo Bill from The Silence of the Lambs, because of his penchant for wearing dresses and the skin of his female victims.
  • When Butters talks to Kyle about flying near the sun, it's a reference to the greek myth of Icarus.
  • This episode is a parody of the Stephen King novel (and later movie and TV series) "The Dead Zone", in which a man can see people's deaths and the future, after having sustained a head injury.
  • "Child wunderkind" is a tautology. "Wunderkind" means "a brilliant or remarkable child;" there's no such thing as an "adult wunderkind."
  • In this episode, Mrs. Crabtree dies, a victim of the serial killer; at this point she had not been seen for several seasons. It was revealed for the first time that her first name was Veronica.
  • Unlike this episode, in "The Biggest Douche in the Universe" Kyle does believe in psychics—but then, he may be against it here at least partially because he simply disagrees with Cartman about everything, or because he changed his beliefs after the first psychic was debunked.
  • The slideshow shown to Cartman by and scar on the lip of the serial killer parodies the novel and film Red Dragon.
