Trivia

  • Most obviously, Marjorine is a play on the Butter substitute Margarine. The fact that Marjorine is played by Butters makes this all the more "hilarious".
  • The scene when Butters is knocking on his parent's door after he gets the device is an allusion to a part in a short story called The Monkey's Paw by W.W. Jacobs. The main character's son dies in this story and then they wish for him to be alive again. Their wish is granted, but when their son comes and knocks on their door they change their mind. They also refer to their son as an "it".
  • This is the first episode for some time that Eric Cartman says his infamous "respect my authority" catchphrase.
  • Clyde: "You mean like that movie Juwanna Mann?" - Juwanna Mann was a 2002 movie starring Miguel Núñez Jr. as an NBA player who gets cut from his team and dresses like a woman so he can join the women’s basketball league.
  • "Light as a feather, stiff as a board." - an incantation used in The Craft, a 1996 movie about new witches entering the world of witchcraft.
  • The old Indian burial ground and its curse is similar to that in the 1989 film Pet Sematary, based on the novel by Stephen King. The old man that warns about the burial ground is a reference to the character, Jud Crandall. This same character has been used before in Butters' Very Own Episode and Asspen.
